Kauai Backcountry with an EpicCam Video Housing

August 28th, 2009 admin No comments

Kauai Backcountry adventuresKauai Backcountry Adventures has exclusive access to a historic irrigation system of the former Lihue Plantation. This ditch and tunnel system that once irrigated vast sugar crops had been unused since sugar was taken out of production in 2000. In January 2003, Kauai Backcountry opened a section for exclusive tubing tours. This water system runs through some of the most beautiful and remote land on the island. The waters which originate near the top of Mount Waialeale, one of the wettest spots in the world, are channeled through ditches and tunnels hand-dug by plantation workers over a century ago!

We were there for a retreat and were able to have fun shooting with an Epic Elite and a Sony TRV-950.

The water is a little cold, but you get used to it pretty quickly and they pack a great picnic lunch for the end of the ride.

Sony HVR-V1u

Sony HVR-V1UThe Sony’s HVR-V1U cam is the first in its class to shoot 1080p video at 24fps, the holy grail of indie DV cinematography. Sony’s V1U is the followup to their Z1U, and is the pro companion to the FX7 pro-sumer cam.

The Great thing about the V1U is that it seems that Sony listened and made that boom mic mount completely removable. This allows the V1u the clearance needed to fit with the Epic Pro HD Underwater Video housing!

The Epic Pro HD™ Camera Housing is designed for professional video cameras. The Epic Pro HD™ is made to fit the Sony HDR-FX1, Sony HVR-V1U, Canon XH-G1, Canon XH-A1 and the Panasonic AG-HVX200. Read more…
